Week of March 5th
Bonjour,
This week, we started a new unit about "la maison" (the house). Through this unit, we will learn new vocabulary but also new structures with real sentences.
We started with a "bande dessinee" (comics), that we read in the Alex and Zoe book. The story was about a giant giving a tour of his castle to some visitors. He said: "Voici la cuisine, voici la salle de bains, voici la salle de sejour, etc." (Here is the kitchen, here is the bathroom, here is the living-room, etc.).
Then we looked at a picture in the same book. The picture represented a house with its different rooms. I asked the student: "Qu'est-ce que c'est ?" (What is it?). They had to answer with the correct vocab: "C'est la chambre, c'est les toilettes, etc." (It's the bedroom, it's the toilet, etc.).
We started the work with a sheet about "les maisons des animaux" (the houses of animals), we could at the same time review the animals. After that, the children had to complete some related worksheets: a map of a house that they had to label, and a crossword puzzle with the rooms of the house and some animals. Then, we completed another work about what we do in different rooms: "Je regarde la television, dans la salle de sejour" (I watch TV in the linving-room), for example. This type of sentence is something that we are going to study again, it's a little bit difficult, as they are long structures. At the end, they had to draw objects in a house: "il y a du chocolat dans la salle de bains" (There is some chocolate in the bathroom), for example.
See you next week.
