Here is what we've done this week!

- Ask the question with Alex and Zoe Livre p 34 – Elle sait faire quoi, mamie ? Il sait faire quoi Alex ? Etc. (What does Mamie know how to do? And Alex?)
- Workshop 1: Sondage “Tu sais... ?” Alex et zoe cahier p 32

- Workshop 2: vocabulary – jouer d'un instrument (play an instrument) / faire un sport (practice a sport)

Week of May 14th

Bonjour,

Here is what we've done this week:

1) Bonjour

 

2) Parler de son sport (Talk about your sport)

- Place the sport flashcards on the table and ask the children to choose the sports that they practice. “Tu fais quoi comme sport ? “ (What sport do you do?) They have to answer: “Je fais du judo, de la natation...” (I practice judo, swimming...).

- Workshop 1: Worksheet “Qui fait quoi ?” (Who's doing what?)

 

3) Tu sais faire … ? (Do you know how to do)

- We are preparing our end-of-year show on the subject: “Je sais faire...” (I know how to do...)

- Explain the structure to the children: “Je sais + verbe a l'infinitif” (I know + infinitive verb). For example, “Je sais nager” (I know how to swim)

- Ask the students what they know. “Tu sais nager, tu sais chanter, tu sais danser ?) (Do you know how to swim, sing, dance?)

- Reading: BD p 37 Alex et Zoe Methode

- Workshop 2: Exercice “Il/elle sait faire...” (He/she knows how to do...) Alex et Zoe p 31 Cahier

Week of May 7th

Bonjour,

Here is what we've done this week:

1) Bonjour et sign in

 

2) Quelle activite tu fais ? (What activity do you do?)
Quelle activite tu fais quand il fait beau ? Quelle activite tu fais quand il fait froid ? (What activity do you when it's sunny? What activity do you do when it's cold?)

- Show the students the flash cards with a lot of activities that we can do when it's hot, when it's cold, when it's raining, etc. The students are going to sort the cards depending on the weather. Three categories are possible : Il fait beau, il fait froid, il pleut. (It's sunny, it's cold, it's raining)

- Workshop 1: Worksheet Et toi, qu'est-ce que tu fais comme activite ? (And you what activity do you do?) (Fiche personnelle) (All)

 

3) Tu aimes ou tu n'aimes pas ? (You like or you don't like?)

- Workshop 2: Sondage (survey) Tu aimes ces activites ? (Do you like these activities?) (Fiche personnelle) (All)

 

4) Fete des meres : cheques-cadeaux a confectionner Mother's Day certificates.

Week of April 30th

Bonjour,

I hope everybody had a fine Spring Break. Here is what we've done this week:

1) Bonjour et sign in

 

2) Review Les vetements/ the clothes

- Workshop 1: Test Aide Clara a etendre son linge Partage EFBA (all)

 

3) Review theme: Vetement et meteo / Clothes and weather

- Place the flash cards on the table and ask the students to pick something that they would wear if it's cold, hot or rainy...

- Workshop 2: Il fait chaud, je porte... Il fait froid, je porte... (It's hot, I wear... It's cold, I wear...) Fiche partage EFBA (all)

- reading: Comic strip on the clothes Alex et Zoe Livre p 51 (all)

- Workshop 3: Game Cherche la personne decrite (Look for the person who's described) Fiche Qui-est-ce ? (all)

 

4) Le muguet – Lily of the Valley
Worksheet on
les differences (spot the differences) The muguet is a flower

that we offer to each other on the 1st of May. It's a tradition in France. The muguet is for good luck. The 1st of May is also Labor Day in France.

Week of April 16th

Bonjour,

Here is what we did this week:

1) Bonjour et sign in

 

2) New Vocab: le temps qu'il fait / the weather

- Montrer les flashcards / show the flashcards and ask the students to look at them, explaining the weather. Ask the question: quel temps fait-il ? (What is the weather). They have to answer: Il fait beau, il pleut, etc. (The weather is nice, it's raining, etc.)

- Workshop 1: Mots croises la meteo / Crossword puzzle the weather - fiche partage EFBA (all)

- Workshop 2: Lis et complete les dessins / read and complete the images – Les loustics p 66 et 67 (all)

 

3) New sentence structure: C'est chaud/C'est froid (it's hot, it's cold)

- Show the cards to the students and mime the difference between c'est chaud and c'est froid.

- Workshop 3: C'est chaud. C'est froid / It's hot, it's cold 2 fiches personnelles (all except Niall)

Pour Niall, fiches sur la meteo Alex et Zoe 2 + BD

4) Projet pour les vacances de printemps / Project for Spring Break

Please look with your children, they have to complete a chart each day during the Spring Break week. If you're not in California, that's fine too.

Week of April 9th

Bonjour,

Here is what we've done this week:

1) Bonjour et sign in

 

2) New vocabulary: sale ou sucre ? (salty or sweet?)

- Show food to the students and ask them if it's “sale” or “sucre” (salty or sweet). Structure to be used: “c'est sale, c'est sucre” (it's salty, it's sweet)

- Workshop 3: Le sel c'est bon, le sucre, c'est bon... (salt is good with... sugar is good with) Loustics 1 p 61 (all)

 

3) New theme: Les vetements (clothes)

- Ecoute de la chanson “promenons-nous dans les bois” (listen to the song “let's go walk in the woods”). Then ask the students to mime the actions of the wolf: Je mets mon tee-shirt, je mets mon pantalon, je mets ma cravate, etc. (I put on my tee-shirt, my pant, my tie, etc.) Chanson zig zag 1 livre p 49 (all)

- Use the flash cards and ask the students to choose one outfit and describe with the structure: je mets... (I put on...)

- Workshop 2: les vetements (clothes) Loustics 1 p 64/65 (all)

Week of April 2nd

Bonjour,

This week, we continued our unit about food.

1) Bonjour et sign in

 

2) New sentence structure: J'aime/je n'aime pas

- Ask the students to say if they like or don't like food/drinks: “tu aimes la pizza ? Tu aimes la citronnade ?” (do you like pizza, do you like lemonade?). They have to answer: oui, j'aime (yes I like it), non, je n'aime pas (no, I dont like it)

- Workshop 1: Sondage (survey) Qu'est-ce que tu aimes ? (What do you like?) Zig zag 1 cahier p 25 (all)

- Workshop 2: Qui aime quoi ? (who likes what?) Loustics 1 p 59 (all)

Week of March 26th

Bonjour,

Here is what we've done this week:

1) Bonjour and sign in

 

2) Review les fruits (fruits)

- Chanson “La salade de fruits de Bouba” (song Bouba's fruit salad) Zig zag methode p 27

- Workshop 1: Les fruits (fruits) Zig zag 1 cahier p 23 (all)

 

3) Au restaurant : Faire une demande polie (At a restaurant: ask politely)

Place all the students around a table with plates, forks, glasses and choose a few students as waiters. The students have to use: “Je voudrais... s'il vous plait” (I would like... please” to order their food or drink.

- Workshop 2: Commander au restaurant (order in a restaurant) Fiche personnelle (all) + fiche mots croises (crossword puzzle) French for kids p 41 (adv)

Week of March 19th

Bonjour,

This week, we've continued our unit about food. The students love it, they are so much more talkative when it comes to food ;) Like us French people, in fact!

Here's what we did:

1) Bonjour et sign in

 

2) Review Le dejeuner (lunch)

workshop 1: Fiche qu'est-ce que tu manges/bois au dejeuner ? (what do you eat/drink for lunch?) Fiche personnelle (all)

 

3) Le gouter, qu'est-ce que c'est ? (the “gouter” what is it?)

Explain the meaning of the gouter in France. Ask the students what kind of food we can eat for “le gouter”: un gateau, un fruit, du fromage, un yaourt... (a cake, a fruit, cheese, a yogurt...)

 

4) Un gouter sain (a healthy snack)

New vocab: les fruits (fruits) – Dominos des fruits pour apprendre (fruit dominoes to learn)

- Workshop 2: les fruits (fruits) – Loustics p 55 (all)

 

5) Project: les repas (meals) – Le dejeuner et le gouter

Week of March 12th

Bonjour,

Here is what we've done this week:

1) Bonjour and sign in

 

2) Review Le petit dejeuner (breakfast)

Review vocab: la nourriture et les boissons du petit dejeuner (food and drink at breaksfast)

Workshop 1: Un bon petit dejeuner (a good breakfast) Zig zag 2 methode p 42, 43 (all)

 

3) New vocabulary: le dejeuner (lunch)

Structure review: qu'est ce que tu manges au dejeuner (what do you eat for lunch). We have several choices on some flashcards: un sandwich, de la salade, des tomates, du poulet-frites, des oeufs, etc (sandwich, salad, tomatoes, chicken and fries, eggs, etc). The children will choose what they eat for lunch using the structures we already know: Au dejeuner, je mange... et je bois... (at lunch I eat... and I drink...)
