Week of February 26th

Bonjour,

This week, we talked about sports. I asked around what kind of sports the students do. I wrote their answers on the board: "Je fais : du basket ball, de la natation, de la danse, etc." (I do basketball, swimming, dance, etc.). Then we studied some worksheets about sports in French. At the end, they had a little test to see if they remembered all the sports. The whole group did a little game. One student had to mime a sport and the others had to guess which one. They had to give the answer in French of course: If it was a boy, "Il fait du football" (He does football), if it was a girl, "Elle fait du cheval" (She does horseback riding). The students enjoyed the game very much.

Then they had to do a survey in the class asking to their friends: "Tu fais du judo/de la danse/du football, etc. ?" (Do you do judo/dance/football, etc.?). The others had to say "oui" or "Non". Then the more advanced had to make sentences like: "Niall fait du judo et du golf" (Niall does football and golf) and "Niall ne fait pas de danse" (Niall does not do dance). They then could work on the negative form also.

At the end, I brought a little book that I made for the children: "Pierrot se presente" (Pierrot is introducing himself). This is something that you can read aloud with your student. It is very easy to understand and the children should be able to translate to you. I will make other books on the same pattern. The little boy has been designed by Vivienne, a student in the class.
