Week of October 25th

Bonjour,

This past week, we had a great time talking about the different members of our families. Here is what we did in detail:

Tuesday, October 25th:
We continued our work about family members with vocabulary about the grandpa (grand-pere), grandma (grand-mere), uncle (oncle), aunt (tante) and cousin (cousin for a boy and cousine for a girl). We also reviewed all the vocabulary of the classroom: book, pencil case, eraser, glu, ruler, etc. I asked the question: "Qu'est-ce que c'est ?" (What is it?), pointing at a class supply, and they had to answer: "C'est un livre" (It's a book) for example. They also had to fill out their "arbre genealogique" (family tree) for their family.

Thursday, October 27th:
We made a poster with a picture of each kid's family. Then they had to stand up and present their family to the others saying: "C'est mon papa, c'est ma maman, c'est moi, etc." (It's my dad, it's my mom, it's me). Each time, I asked them the question: "C'est qui ?" pointing to a family member (who is this?) and they had to answer forming the correct sentence. Then, we created a family card game called "le jeu des 7 familles" (the seven families game). Each kid had to choose a theme for his/her family. We had la famille Soleil (sun), la famille Grenouille (frog), la famille Royale (royal family), la famille Joli (fancy), la famille Papillon (butterfly) and la famille Elfe (elf). Then, next time, we'll play the game.

Next week is November, so we'll start a new theme which will delight the children: animals!
